- [Instructor] Let's take off some material that isn't counted per se, but has to be measured, something with an area or a volume. So I'm going to go to a drawing that I have in Bluebeam, and this is a concrete slab drawing. You can see that it's really one big slab, but I'm going to break it down into two parts because it's going to be easier for me to measure. I've already measured it, 37-foot, nine inches wide, and 68-feet long. And I'll measure and calculate this other part next. So if I were calculating area, all I would need is the width and the length. If I were putting down some material, like floor tiling or if I were painting or dealing with some sort of media that only relied on area measurements, I would be all set. But concrete has a thickness to it, and it's installed and purchased by volume. So that's a cubic yard. So I'm going to go over to the notes here, and you'll see that the first…
