Blend Modes
- Though you can assign and change colors, there is another way of working with color. Have the color in objects interact with each other to create custom effects. If you are a Photoshop or Illustrator user, you are quite familiar with what I'm talking about. This is achieved through the use of blend modes. To see how blend modes work in XD open the blends file found in your chapter download. For those unfamiliar with blends, they are essentially mathematical calculations that work with the color values of pixels overlaying each other. To see what I'm talking about, select this top image here and then open this pump down here in the appearance panel and select multiply. Yikes. The image is a ton darker and there's a reason for that. If you open the pop down, you will see the blends are categorized. A multiply is in the darkened group. So how did this happen?
