From the course: Learning Adobe Fonts (Formerly Typekit)

What is Adobe Fonts?

- [Instructor] Adobe Fonts, available at Fonts.Adobe.com is a online font subscription service that is part of the Adobe Creative Cloud. Its fonts are from some of the world's most respected font foundries, and can be used directly on websites or activated for use in desktop applications like InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. There are approximately 1,900 typeface families and this number is growing. Of course, most typefaces come in a variety of weights and styles, each one considered a distinct font, so we're talking about 15,000 plus fonts. All are provided under a single licensing agreement and you can do anything with the fonts, except share them with other users or put them in an app. Since the name was changed from Typekit in October 2018, Adobe Fonts has simplified the process of adding and using fonts, and some of the terminology has changed. You activate rather than sync fonts and you can activate as many as you like. There are no limits. There are no longer any web font, page view, and domain limits. Indeed, there is no longer any distinction between web and desktop fonts. All fonts are available for use on the web and on the desktop. All Creative Cloud plans, including single app plans and the photography plan, include the complete library of fonts, and even if you're not a Creative Cloud subscriber, you still get access to a limited number of fonts, free with an Adobe ID.
