- [Instructor] iOS supports connecting external storage devices to your iPhone or iPad. This can be a huge advantage in being able to easily move files between your iOS device and your computer, or between iOS devices, themselves, especially larger files that might take too long to transfer over airdrop or other methods that might involve transferring them to a cloud-based storage location first. Now on an iPad, you should find that most flash drives or SD cards should have no problem being recognized by your device. You'll most likely need a lightning to USB adapter, like the one you see here in order to connect the drive to your phone. Or if you're using a more modern iPad, you'll need a USBC to USB adapter to connect to your iPad. Now iPhones, at least at this point might have trouble reading larger capacity flash drives. So if you plug in a drive, and you see a message like this, you won't be able to access its contents…
