Inserting special characters

- [Instructor] Quick, tell me what the keyboard shortcut is to type the registered trademark symbol, or how about an en or an em dash? If you don't use these characters very often, there's no reason to clutter your head with trying to remember the shortcuts, because InDesign has a couple of features that make inserting special characters a breeze. I'm going to zoom in on this magazine article over here by double clicking, and that switches to the type tool, and then I'll press command or control 2. Now, let's add a special character after the word Petal, the name of the company. I'm going to add the registered trademark symbol. To find it, I'll go to the Type menu and scroll all the way down here to the bottom where I see Insert Special Character. Then inside these sub-menus, you can see all kinds of characters, like bullet character, copyright, ellipses, and here's the one I'm looking for, the registered trademark symbol.
