- After you've gathered input from your employees about their flexibility preferences, you'll need to reflect on your own preferences as well. As a manager, it's not easy to accommodate everyone's schedules and requests, and you'll have to find the right balance that works for you and your company. Prepare yourself for the fact that employees are going to make requests for a variety of reasons. Whether it's dropping off kids at school or taking a mental health day, they might ask for flexible scheduling, the ability to work remotely part of the time or both, and you need to decide what's realistic and manageable for you. An important first step is to think about how much flexibility you can offer while still meeting the needs of the business.
