- [Instructor] Downloading is the process of receiving information. The data is sent from another location such as the cloud to your computer or mobile device. This term contrasts with uploading, which is the process of sending data from your computer or mobile device to the cloud or elsewhere. Knowing the difference is important because a lot of downloading gets done these days. For example, new software is installed via download. You download web pages, documents from the cloud, movies, music, and so on. Yes, streaming is a type of downloading, but without storing the information locally. With all this downloading going on, problems are apt to occur. First, check the internet connection. It must be active and the internet must be up and available for the download to succeed.
