Positioning the background in Z space
- The next thing we're going to do is position our background in Z space. Now, if you've never worked in a program like After Effects before, you might be wondering what Z space is. Essentially, Z space is the separation between the layers or the elements that you're working with. So, by adding space in the program, you're actually going to be able to add parallax when you put in a moving camera. The first step is separate your foreground element from your background element. In this case, the foreground element is our subject and the background element is our photograph. So, let's go ahead and work on positioning our elements in Z space. To enable Z space, so that we can eventually add a camera, I need to enable 3D for each of our layers. So, I'm going to go up to this checkbox here and click on it, and it's going to make it 3D. And I'm going to our background layer, click, and it's been promoted to 3D. And you can see…
