- At the end of the day, selling is pretty simple. You need to offer a service to someone for a price and they need to agree to that price. But if you go a layer down, they're a lot of assumptions inside that simple framework. You need to approach the right people and say the right things to them. To really succeed in selling your services, you need to understand targeting, messaging, and frequency. Targeting focuses on who you're talking to. The better you understand who is most likely to want your help, the easier it is to target people like them for your conversations. If you were selling social media management to law firms, you wouldn't spend your time talking to school teachers, right? That's an extreme example, but the point is, you want to understand who your target client is, whether it's as simple as law firms, or more complex like law firms who focus on technology companies.
