Interrupting bias

- Even if we understand that bias exists and we proactively look for it, few of us have had experiences challenging it. In today's culture, there's much conversation about the right strategies for challenging discrimination in the workplace without creating culture where people are afraid of being blamed or shamed for their mistakes. It's important not to dismiss the concerns of communities that are at the direct impact of historical impression. And, it's important to think about what kind of culture do we actively want to create? We can create a culture where we call people in rather than calling them out. Now, how do we do that? First, ask for more information. Letting people know that you want to know more about what they think can disarm them from defensiveness.
