A word about fields

- [Instructor] It seems like every app nowadays has its own jargon or set of terminology, and this is true with tables and PivotTables when it comes to the word field. In fact, there are many types of fields, and we're going to go over the basic ones here in this video. In your data, or in this case, this table, think of the columns as being fields. So this is the date field, this is the buyer field, and so forth, and so on. Why use the word field instead of a column? Because field is used a lot in the PivotTable menus and dialog boxes. PivotTables simply don't call these columns, they call them fields. So getting used to calling them fields will help you a lot later. There are also PivotTable fields.
