Build a formula in a cell with =
- [Instructor] A function is a built-in Excel calculation that you initiate by calling with a formula. Type an equal sign into the cell. This lets Excel know you're building a formula. Reference a different cell by clicking it with your mouse or you can also type in the location directly. You can perform calculations with additional operators or functions. Hit the enter key to calculate your formula. To use a function, put parentheses around the beginning and the end. The colon tells Excel to include all the cells between the start and end points. You can also drag with the mouse to select cells near each other. This formula adds the values. These are the most important building blocks to build formulas in Excel.
