- Everybody says that they know how to read a storyboard, but over the years I've found that many people don't really understand every element of a storyboard, and quite honestly, many storyboards failed to deliver everything that they should. So first, we need to understand that each drawing is called either a panel, or a frame, and a single scene, or shot, may need multiple panels to represent all the action that happens. So when reading through a storyboard, you need to pay attention to the numbering so that you can tell when a new shot or new scene is called for. And so for instance, on this shot here, we see that we're in scene five, shot six, panel one. There is only one panel on that one 'cause then we go to shot seven, which you can see here, but shot seven has one, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
