Future of buildings
- In the face of accelerating climate change, evolving regulations and shifting customer preferences, operational, design, and construction practices of the past century no longer suffice. Buildings designed to meet yesterday's needs are not equipped to tackle the challenges of today and tomorrow. Increasing regulations around carbon emissions and energy use are resulting in hefty fines. While the rising frequency of climate events and changing customer preferences call for a new way of thinking about building resilience and profitability. For existing buildings, a comprehensive decarbonization and resilience plan is essential. This plan should include a phased approach to capital upgrades that both reduce carbon emissions and strengthen the building against climate change risks.
