- Hey everybody, welcome back. Every new organization where Agile and Lean concepts are introduced goes through an initial reaction of, "That sounds great, but it'll never work here." The individual team members find it hard to believe, given their current state, that they'll be able to get to a state where everyone is trusting each other to do the right thing, to be engineer-driven without people just slacking, to be blameless in retrospectives, to always write tests and issue pull requests instead of just sloppy. Everywhere I've worked, it's been, "It won't work here," until it does. And that's understandable, people let their perceptions be colored by what's come before. Let's examine why. One of the hurdles is terminology. Unless people have been formally trained, and even then, they don't necessarily know what all this stuff means.
