- Prototypes can be almost anything so long as they provide the context needed to allow users to engage with the design or interaction. And when designed well, prototypes allow users to give us valuable feedback and tell us if we're heading in the right direction or if it's time to pivot. After the discovery process, you will likely have a good sense of some of your design principles and a rough idea of where you are headed. But there are numerous considerations for the final design. So how do we know those interactions will be successful or engaging? This is where prototyping is an essential tool. Not only does a prototype support user feedback early on in the design process, but it also allows us to test our interaction designs. As you recall, one of the key benefits of virtual reality is the ability for users to interact with the digital world around them.
