Mid-fi prototyping
From the course: Designing for Virtual Reality
Mid-fi prototyping
- As you likely know, VR is a very specific sensory experience that is hard to convey or even imagine when we're not in a headset. So how as designers and developers do we convey the VR experience without all the heavy lifting of designing an entire VR environment? This is where no-code, mid-fidelity prototyping can be really helpful. In good user design, you aim to gather contextually valid user data, which often means collecting data in the wild or as it is likely to happen in the real world. However, when designing for VR, our real world context is actually a virtual digital world. And although lo-fi paper and cardboard prototypes are great at the start of design, eventually you need to get users into the digital VR context to test your ideas. But how do we do that and still keep our process efficient and lean? I recommend using digital no-code prototyping tools. These types of tools allow you to prototype VR experiences without the burden of designing in a VR game engine like…
