- Okay folks, we have to have a serious talk, and that's about wireless security standards. I know, I know what you're thinking. We're going to go into some long, drawn out thing because I know that when I first started learning about these standards, I learned about WEP. And WEP was being used over and over and over again. I was wondering, when are they going to stop talking about WEP? Well, guess what? I'm not here to talk about WEP. I'm just going to say a couple of things, that WEP, okay, sure, it used 64-bit and 128-bit keys, but it was crackable, it was trash. We're not going to talk about it. Moving on. So the 802.11 standard said, you know what? The committee, I'm sorry, they come out and said, we need another standard and we're going to come up with 802.11i. The problem is it was taking way too long to come out. So in the interim, they said, let's come out with another standard called WPA.
