Color is more than a trend

(light music) - Color is everywhere. We use it in branding, interiors, immersive spaces, architecture, and sculptures like this beautiful chromatic gate right behind me, but color is so much more than all of this. Color is a deeply-rooted a universal language. We're wired to communicate and connect with visuals. In fact, about 90% of the information our brain transmits is visual, and our brains process visual 60,000 times faster than text. Color is the first step into communication. Before we even learn how to read, we begin to associate colors with shapes and objects. On a global scale, we use color on street signs to direct traffic. While we may not understand the language, we're able to recognize a stop sign by its shape and color. In the animal kingdom, we see color communication as a way to attract mates or trigger warnings. Think of the glorious peacocks to the vibrant coloring on the poison dart frogs that scream danger or the magnificent color display of the cuttlefish. (light music) if you already can't tell, I'm obsessed with color, but to me, it's not so much of a fashion statement as it's about the feelings associated with different colors. I wear these colors because it evokes a certain emotion for me. Hola, I'm Nicte Cuevas. I'm a graphic designer and brand strategist.
