Focusing on the impact
- Focusing on the impact of a bad behavior rather than the behavior itself is a useful technique. By focusing on the impact, you can show the individual how their actions affect others. Instead of saying something like, "That was rude," You might say something like, "Hey, I know you probably didn't mean it, "but when you said X this morning, "it really hurt." If you're feeling nervous to step in, "I'm sure that was rude," wasn't even an option, but the latter gives you the ability to intervene professionally and respectfully.
