- Carl Jung said, "You are what you do, "not what you say you do." Action plans are useless if you don't implement them. And an action plan that wants to take inclusivity seriously has to include all three pieces of DEI, diversity, inclusion, and equity. After this lesson, you'll be able to implement a holistic approach to building and maintaining an inclusive work community to ensure you do more than just talk about the importance of DEIB. First, address diversity. Do a complete inventory of all your people processes, including recruiting, promotions, training and development. Are applicants diverse? Are you intentionally recruiting from HBCUs, historically black colleges and universities, or organizations that represent the diversity you need to see within your company?
