From the course: Building Creative Organizations

Gaining a creative edge

- Today's business environment is becoming increasingly uncertain and complex, and it's happening more rapidly than ever before. Listen, if you want to watch a movie or a TV show, chances are, Netflix is at the top of your list. It now reaches 200 countries streaming thousands of titles. But in the late 1990s, Netflix was just a startup mail-order competitor with Blockbuster Video, whose physical stores were in virtually every neighborhood. How did Netflix eclipse Blockbuster and become the leader in the market? Well, Netflix was more innovative and creatively tapped into a changing world. The only way to win now is to adapt faster than your competition, and that requires a creative edge, especially if you want to be the next Netflix rather than the next Blockbuster. Hi, I'm Thea Polancic, and I'm Managing Partner at ClearSpace, a coaching and consulting firm. I've worked with hundreds of senior leaders and their teams in the past 20 years, helping them to strengthen their focus, alignment, and results. In this course, our definition of creativity includes everyone on your team. And we'll give you concrete ways to strengthen creativity in your organization. We'll get there using examples, real-world cases, and best practices from thought leaders. I invite you to engage in this course from a place of openness and commitment. Be open to what it takes to be creative, reflecting first on your own experience. Find out what's possible for your organization and the steps you need to get there.
