The design journey
- [Instructor] After working in several design firms and as an in-house designer, I knew I wanted to have my own business. When I became a military spouse, I quickly learned about the slim job opportunities that came from moving around. We moved to a new city, and as soon as I mentioned I was a military spouse, I could tell I lost the job opportunity. I was crushed. I thought having a degree and experience would really matter but it didn't. So I collected myself and realized it was time to start my business. I finally got things going and my business was doing great but I had to pause my business when I had some health issues that led to my son being born three months early. Nearly four months in the NICU and five surgeries for him, I was a mess. I had to balance business and going to his therapies. You see, the journey you live is not always going to be ideal. You need to embrace it anyway. I share this story to encourage you. We all have our struggles and we're constantly growing, and I promise you if you keep at it, you will see results.
