AU Roundtrip AAC is another tool that can be used to compare an AAC file to the original source audio file to check for clipping. It includes clip and peak detection as well as a simple listening test environment. The audio unit plug-in can be used in any audio unit host applications, such as Logic or AU Lab. AU Lab is available as a free download at apple.com/itunes/mastered-for-itunes and is mainly designed as an audio unit host for developers.
