Track automation
- [Instructor] Automation is a tool for creating real-time device and mixer parameter changes. Now I've got the track automation project open, and there's a couple of different ways that we can add automation in Ableton Live. First of all, you can draw it in with your mouse or the pencil tool, and we refer to that as graphic automation. Or you can record it in real time, and we refer to that as real-time automation. Also, automation can be clip-based in either the session view window or the arrangement view window, or it can be track based, and that's only in arrangement view. So let's start with track-based, graphic automation in the arrangement view window. Now, we can see automation if we activate automation mode, and we can do that by enabling this button just above your top track header on the upper, right-hand corner.
