- Leonardo da Vinci, the famous Renaissance genius who is well known for his inventions, art and architecture is quoted as saying, "The greatest deception men suffer "is their own opinions." Everyone has an opinion and believes it is the right opinion. So what can happen when a problem arises and we have numerous opinions about what the problem is or what the causes are? Which opinion is the right opinion? I would say none, since opinions are based on feelings and past experience, but not on facts. A better way to approach a problem is by using quantifiable and measurable data, because these provide a fact-based way to communicate the reality of a situation in a factual, unambiguous way. Plus, by illustrating a problem with figures and numbers, we can make it tangible so you can see what the problem looks like and how big it is. This leads us to Step 2 of the A3 worksheet.
