UK financial services ads verification

Ads promoting financial services or products to audiences in the United Kingdom (UK) may come from UK Financial Conduct Authority (UK FCA)-authorized advertisers only. LinkedIn requires advertisers who wish to serve ads for financial services or products targeting UK audiences to go through a pre-approval process to verify UK FCA authorization. This requirement for UK FCA authorization encompasses all ads for financial services targeted at UK audiences on LinkedIn, both on-platform and via the LinkedIn Audience Network (LAN), across all ad formats. 

Advertisers must obtain pre-approval from LinkedIn before ads for financial services targeting UK audiences will be served. If you haven’t obtained pre-approval from LinkedIn to advertise financial services in the UK, your ad will be rejected.

Important to know

Pre-approval from LinkedIn isn’t required for financial service ads targeted outside of the UK.

Pre-approval from LinkedIn to serve ads for financial services to the UK

If you’re registered with the UK FCA, you can obtain pre-approval from LinkedIn to serve ads for financial services to UK audiences through the UK Financial Services Verification page in Campaign Manager. 

Before you proceed with the pre-approval process, you'll need the following:

  • Your UK FCA Firm Reference Number

  • A firm email address that matches the domain registered with the UK FCA

Important to know

You can only submit up to five pre-approval requests per day.

Apply for pre-approval

  1. Access LinkedIn’s UK Financial Services Verification page

  2. On the UK Financial Services Verification page, select all of the accounts that you want to submit for pre-approval and click Verify pre-approval.

  3. Enter your firm’s Firm Reference Number (FRN) obtained from the UK FCA. 

  4. Enter a firm email address. The domain of the firm email address must match the domain registered with the UK FCA. 

  5. Click Continue.  

  6. A 6-digit verification PIN will be sent to the firm email address you entered.  

  7. When prompted in Campaign Manager, enter the 6-digit verification code that was emailed to you. 

  8. Click Continue.  

  9. You’ll see a message of confirmation if the verification is successful, and your request is approved.  

  10. Click Done. The ad accounts are now approved to advertise financial services and products to audiences in the UK. 

Here's a tip

If your ad is rejected, we’ll send an email detailing the reason it wasn’t approved to ad account users with ad review notification permissions. If you believe your ad was incorrectly rejected because it isn’t about financial products or services or it doesn’t target audiences in the UK, you can submit an appeal via the rejection notice.
