Workplace verification via Microsoft Entra Verified ID

Last updated: 7 months ago

Having a workplace verification means that the individual had a workplace account with the company listed on their LinkedIn work experience, and was able to verify it by going through the company's authentication process. If your company uses Entra and has enabled workplace verification, you’ll be able to verify that you work at this organization and add this verification on your LinkedIn profile.

Please keep in mind:

  • Availability: Workplace verification is globally available for participating companies.
  • The verification is processed via Entra: The verification flow may differ slightly for each individual based on your company’s authentication flow.
  • Device: You can access this feature through the LinkedIn mobile app (iOS and Android). The verification process is not available on web browsers.
  • Name matching: Your workplace name must match the name on your LinkedIn profile. If you have a LinkedIn profile in another language, your workplace name also needs to match the name on your secondary profile.
  • Verifications are visible, but you can remove them anytime. Once verified, a workplace verification may be visible on your profile in the About this profile section and the Verification card, but the actual information used for verification (i.e. the credential provided by your company) will not be visible. You can remove the verification anytime in settings.

How to verify your workplace via Entra:

  1. Click More on your LinkedIn profile, then About this profile, and then click Verify now to start the verification process.
  2. Follow the steps set up by your company to sign into your work account. The process may differ slightly based on how your company set up the system.
  3. By clicking Submit, the verified information is sent to LinkedIn and a verification will be added to your profile. The actual information from your verification won't be displayed. IMPORTANT: You must complete this step for the verification to be added to your LinkedIn profile.
  4. A verification will be visible on your profile if your workplace name matches the name on your LinkedIn profile, and verifications may be removed (e.g. if the verification expires or is revoked).

To remove workplace verification via Entra on Desktop, iOS, or Android:

  1. Click here to jump to your settings, or click on the Me icon at the top right of your screen.
  2. Click on Settings & Privacy.
  3. Under Account preferences, click on Verifications.
  4. Confirm your deletion - please note we can’t restore the verification once it’s deleted.

How we use your data and your choices

Your workplace verification is sent from your organization in the form of a Verifiable Credential, which may include (as determined by your organization) your name, email, job title, photo and preferred language. We may use your Verifiable Credential to provide you with a verification confirmation on your profile, to periodically check that the Verifiable Credential remains valid, for security purposes (e.g., so we can ensure that your profile name and current experience continues to match your Verifiable Credential), and to enable you to help prove your work history to others in the future.

We rely on your consent to use your data. You can withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your verification in your settings (see above). We may retain your Verifiable Credential until you delete it or close your account. Learn more about our practices in our Privacy Policy.
