LinkedIn Ads settings

Last updated: 1 week ago

As described in section 2.4 of our Privacy Policy (Advertising), we target ads to members on and off our services. We want our members to have control over how we use their data for ads, and so we offer our members a robust set of ad settings.

Some important information about your ad settings:

  • You can access your ad settings here: LinkedIn Ads settings
  • You can adjust your ad settings any time.
    • For members in the Designated Countries, if you see that some of your ad settings are not actionable, it means that we are not using the data covered by that ad setting for personalized ads. Learn more.
  • None of the ad settings opt you out of seeing ads on LinkedIn. No matter what you choose, you will still see ads they will just be less relevant to you.
  • No matter what you choose in your ad settings, it will not change your access to LinkedIn features, such as searching for jobs.
  • LinkedIn disables targeted advertising to members in the Designated Countries that may be under the age of 18.
  • Changes to LinkedIn's advertising settings may take up to 72 hours to become effective.

Manage your LinkedIn Ads settings

For step-by-step directions on how members can access and change their ad settings, see below.

To access your LinkedIn Ads settings:

  1. Click the Me icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.
  2. Select Settings & Privacy from the dropdown.
  3. Click Advertising data in the left rail.

Using your ad settings, you can:

  • Manage general advertising preferences.
  • Manage how data collected on LinkedIn is used to show you ads.
  • Manage how data from others (Non-LinkedIn) is used to show you ads.

When updating your ad settings, keep in mind:

  • If you limit the information used to improve ad relevance, you will still see ads on LinkedIn but they may be less personalized.
  • Note: If a member makes changes to the settings in the Profile or Activity and Inferred Data sections of their ad settings, those changes will impact that data that LinkedIn uses to personalize ads on and off LinkedIn (assuming your ad settings allow us to show you ads outside of LinkedIn).
  • Your LinkedIn Ads settings only control the data that LinkedIn uses about you to personalize ads. To manage how LinkedIn uses data to market its own products and services to you, visit your settings.

Use industry platforms

In addition to managing your ads settings from your LinkedIn account, you have other options for influencing the ads you see, such as using industry platforms to opt out of interest-based advertising.

We’re members of the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) and adhere to the DAA self-regulatory principles for online behavioral advertising (OBA). Our ad services do not engage in “the collection of data online from a particular computer or device regarding Web viewing behaviors over time and across non-affiliate Websites for the purpose of using such data to predict user preferences or interests to deliver advertising to that computer or device based on the preferences or interests inferred from such Web viewing behaviors.” (OBA, as defined by the DAA Principles)

LinkedIn participates in the IAB Europe Transparency & Consent Framework and complies with its Specifications and Policies when processing requests to serve ads off-LinkedIn, on the LinkedIn Audience Network. LinkedIn’s identification number within the framework is 804.

Use your mobile device settings to opt out of advertising for third parties based on your mobile ad identifier

If you’re seeing ads served by LinkedIn for third parties on a non-LinkedIn mobile application, you may use your mobile device settings to opt out of certain types of advertising that use your mobile ad identifier. Each mobile device setting will describe the scope of its opt-out. This opt-out won’t apply to LinkedIn mobile applications since we don’t use mobile ad identifiers to serve ads in our own applications.

Non-members can opt-out of LinkedIn's and its service providers' tracking of visits to LinkedIn for its own marketing on this page: aboutads.info/choices. This is a cookie-based opt-out, so it is browser specific and it is rendered ineffective by clearing or blocking cookies. Please note that the non-member setting is not intended for use by members and will only apply on www.linkedin.com and only if you are logged out of LinkedIn.

If you are accessing LinkedIn from one of the Designated Countries and the UK, you can choose to activate or deactivate the cookies that are used to deliver ads. Learn more about managing your cookie preferences. Manage how your cookie settings and ads settings interact.

Note: If an ad features your LinkedIn profile picture or name in one of our Dynamic Ads formats, only you will see your name and profile picture in the ad. Other members who receive this ad will see their own information. Please note that without your separate permission, the advertiser doesn’t see or receive your name or profile picture from these ads or campaigns.
