Employees at Yokohama locations across the US participated in a variety of festivities to celebrate the holiday season. Locations hosted fun activities such as Breakfast with Santa, tacky/ugly sweater contests, and a competitive department decorating contest. In addition to the festivities, Yokohama employees generously donated their time, toys, and gifts to organizations like the Roanoke Salvation Army, One Simple Wish, and Operation Santa Claus/Senior Santa and Friends, helping those in need in our local communities. We hope everyone enjoyed the festivities and wish everyone a wonderful holiday season!

Last week over 60 Yokohama employees packed over 15,000 meals at our corporate headquarters with one of our non-profit partners, Rise Against Hunger. All 15,120 meals are already on their way to the people of the Southeast Asian nation of Timor-Leste. Rise Against Hunger is working with this nation on some exciting farm initiatives and these meals will help fuel a path to self-reliance. We are so appreciative of all the employees who volunteered their time to help support this wonderful organization in their effort towards ending world hunger. Rise Against Hunger is a global movement dedicated to ending hunger by empowering communities, nourishing lives, and responding to emergencies. They provide volunteer-packaged meals and other assistance, often through school feeding programs, to support nutrition, education, and health for children and families facing hunger. They may look like simple bags of rice and soy, but Rise Against Hunger meals represent the hopes and dreams of people worldwide. You can learn more about the organization here riseagainsthunger.org.

The other day, several volunteers from our Yokohama Development Center America location in North Carolina joined Tread Lightly! and the Uwharrie National Forrest Team to install new educational and responsible recreation signs on 7 kiosks on the Badin Lake OHV Trail system. This trail system contains 17 miles of shared use OHV trails supporting everything from motorcycle to full-size off-road vehicles. With multiple added obstacles and several very challenging natural trail sections, the Badin OHV trails offer something for every motorized user. We are also proud to announce that we renewed our partnership with Tread Lightly! who promote responsible outdoor recreation through stewardship and educational programs. This partnership been a great avenue for our dedicated employee base to volunteer on a variety of activities like the one last week, such as forest clean-ups, building infrastructure and trail remediation. We are excited for another year of activities with Tread Lightly! that continue to support their ongoing mission to protect off-road trail access and public lands.

Employees of Yokohama Tire Manufacturing Virginia (YTMV) are truly championing the Company’s Vision to care for the communities in which we operate. In the past few months, several employees from the Salem, VA manufacturing plant have been out in the community lending a hand with local charity organizations. Groups of volunteers have packed food pantry boxes, beautified the grounds at Mill Mountain Zoo, assisted athletes in the Special Olympics Virginia, Inc. , Big Feet Meet, and cleaned up the Roanoke River and Greenway with CLEAN VALLEY COUNCIL INC. We are so proud of our team and their service to these organizations! Another program that YTMV employees were excited to partner with is the Backpack Buddies program. Our lucky number is 716 as that’s how many jars of peanut butter were collected! This program provides a backpack full of food to students in Botetourt County and surrounding areas facing food insecurity. We would like to recognize three employees who were instrumental in making this donation drive a huge success: Dale Gore, Duane Perrine, and Robbie Boyd. Thank you to all our amazing employees for their dedication and hard work. Together, we are making a difference!”
