Did you know? Florida is the third largest state in pediatric population and accounts for 6% of all new pediatric cancer cases in the U.S., yet Florida does not have a top-25 ranked pediatric cancer program. Florida’s children should not have to travel out of state for top-tier care and innovative treatments. Philanthropy is critical in elevating our cancer program, and we hope you'll join us in our mission to ensure no child needs to travel out of state for top-tier care and innovative treatments. Wolfson Children's Hospital President, Allegra Jaros (pictured here with #WolfsonWarrior Kennedy) shared more recently as a guest columnist in The Florida Times-Union I Jacksonville.com: https://bit.ly/4flNO6t ---- This December, every dollar you give to cancer care at Wolfson Children's will be matched, up to $50,000, thanks to an anonymous donor and the generous support of the St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church community! Our children deserve world-class cancer care — let’s bring it home to Jacksonville. Give today at go.baptistjax.com/3BzTnQN.

This week, our tiniest patients experienced an extra special holiday tradition for their first Christmas—a visit from Santa Claus himself! 🎅🏼 Our NICU was filled with the warmth of the season as Santa stopped by to meet these sweet little ones for the very first time. Thank you to everyone who helped make these special moments possible for our #WolfsonWarriors, especially our team members and families in the #NICU. Merry Christmas! 🎄 Head over to our Facebook page to see more pics!

Congratulations to Amber Lee Van Meter, BSN, RN, CPN, on her recent DAISY Award! ❤️🏆 Amber works in the Pediatric Day Hospital at Wolfson Children’s and was nominated by a patient’s mom. "My son has to have his labs drawn by the PICC team in the day hospital downtown every 6-8 weeks. Amber has been a huge advocate alongside me since 2021. My son was a tough draw at his young age and she made sure we got the labs drawn with such compassion and timely manner. Amber has held my hand through some of the toughest moments and always advocated for my son. Just recently there was an issue with his blood tubes in the lab and she spent her lunch break helping me get it straightened out so my son did not have to get poked again. That's not the first time nor will it be the last time she goes above and beyond for my son's care. It's been 3 years since we met and I feel like she is a friend for life. I know that when I see her everything is going to be alright. I know my son is not the only one she goes out of her way to help. Her compassion and empathy make her one of the best nurses at Wolfson Children's. It's nurses like her that make Wolfson Children's a special place for all children and parents. She deserves so much more than just recognition - she is a true blessing!" Amber, thank you for making such a difference in the lives of your patients and their families! You make Wolfson Children’s a special place. 💙
