Here’s a quick tip from our IT expert (and CEO) Tim Admire to help optimize your technology and keep your systems safe and secure 💻🔒✅ "As 2024 comes to a close, it’s a good time to review these FOUR TIPS to make sure you’re staying safe in the coming year: 1️⃣ BE PHISHING AWARE: Phishing continues to be on the rise, so remain diligent in checking emails that ask you to do something. Check the sender address, review domain names in links, and be cautious of attachments. 2️⃣ SECURE YOUR DEVICES: Use six-digit codes and biometrics on mobile devices, enable encryption and firewalls on laptops, and avoid untrusted USB drives. 3️⃣ BACKUP YOUR DATA: Hard drives die all the time and you don’t want to lose your sensitive data, so make sure you’re utilizing backup solutions such as iCloud, Time Machine, Windows Backup, or a cloud-based solution. 4️⃣ STRONG PASSWORDS: Make sure your passwords are complex, at least 12 characters in length, and never re-used across services. A password manager is essential in accomplishing this. Good password hygiene is one of the best things you can do to protect yourself and your data. If you have questions, just ASK US!" Even with a strong password, you should always enable Multi-Factor Authentication (or MFA) for every account where it's available, especially your financial accounts! MFA offers an added layer of security by requiring a code or other means of approval linked to your phone number, email, or a 3rd party app before allowing access to that account.
