We are honored to be the recipient of two ACEC Virginia Engineering Excellence Awards this year – a Grand Award for the Wargaming Center at Marine Corps Base Quantico and a Merit Award for the Jones & Cabacoy Veterans Care Center. The Wargaming Center is a new, 100,400 SF state-of-the-art facility that provides our Marine Corps with a dedicated space to conduct strategic wargame planning, tactical simulations, and essential research and evaluation of innovative technologies. The Wiley Wilson | Burns & McDonnell Joint Venture provided planning and full design services for this essential design-bid-build project. The Center houses an auditorium, gaming classrooms, cell rooms, breakout rooms, game cell rooms, white cell rooms, a conference room, Secret Internet Protocol Router spaces, a production room, a graphics production room, and Secure Compartmented Information Facility spaces. As a Grand Award winner, the Wargaming Center is eligible to win ACEC’s Pinnacle Award which is presented to the top project in the Commonwealth. The new Jones & Cabacoy Veterans Care Center serves as home to a portion of Virgnia veterans. Working alongside orcutt I winslow, Wiley|Wilson provided planning, architectural and engineering design services, and construction administration for this revolutionary care center. The design of the Veterans Care Center promotes a sense of community and resident comfort through our team’s emphasis on small house care. Design elements consider well-being, safety, and enjoyment of the advanced amenities. Sophisticated technology systems ensure the safety of residents with memory care issues and household wings contain dining/kitchen areas, a den, a living room, and enclosed outdoor spaces for residents to enjoy safely. We are thrilled at the success of these two very special projects! #ACECVA #EEA #architecture #engineering #design
