We are thrilled to announce that Beacon Landing, in partnership with The Lamb Center, has received a $1M Affordable Housing Program (AHP) General Fund award from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta. As one of just 11 development projects selected in Virginia, this award underscores the importance of our shared vision with The Lamb Center for Beacon Landing. We were thrilled to team up with Building Momentum, a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business, to host a 3D printing pen workshop at our Strawbridge Square after-school program. This hands-on experience allowed students to dive into the world of 3D design, sparking their creativity and helping them develop valuable skills for the future. At Wesley Housing, we’re dedicated to fostering creativity, learning, and skill-building in our communities. Initiatives like these inspire hope for the future and equip youth with the tools to unlock their potential and envision new possibilities. Wesley Housing, in partnership with The Lamb Center and our dedicated development partners, celebrated a huge step forward for Beacon Landing — the demolition of the Hy-Way Motel at 9640 Fairfax Boulevard! This marks an exciting milestone as we move closer to bringing our shared vision to life. Beacon Landing will be a five-story residential and mixed-use community featuring 54 apartments for individuals transitioning out of chronic homelessness. Once completed, Beacon Landing will stand as the largest permanent supportive housing (PSH) development in Northern Virginia, providing homes for individuals with disabilities and very low incomes. A special thank you to Mayor Catherine S. Read for attending the demo party and for her continued support as we work together to build a more inclusive community. #BeaconLanding #PermanentSupportiveHousing #InclusiveCommunities #AffordableHousing

Last month, a community mural painted by residents was unveiled at The Cadence in Arlington. “Growing Together: The Forest of Us” is a collaboration between Arlington Public Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington, and Wesley Housing as part of the 2024 IMPACT Art Residency Program. Artist in residence Lianna Zaragoza led six community workshops bringing the community together for a memorable experience, where residents could explore art-making and creativity, while also creating permanent artwork for their community room. The piece depicts a scene in Lubber Run and was made using house paint and locally foraged Virginia clay. The program is supported in part by Arlington County Government through the Arlington Cultural Affairs Division of Arlington Economic Development and Wesley Housing. In honor of Wesley Housing’s 50th anniversary, residents of our DC community The Hampshire came together to create a collection of cherry blossom artwork. The cherry blossom holds a special significance, symbolizing renewal and optimism with its vibrancy. These blossoms also represent enduring friendship and the spirit of cultural exchange, as they were a gift from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo to Washington, DC, in 1912. This connection reflects not only the rich history of our nation’s capital but also the diverse histories and friendships of the residents who call this community home. 📷 : Jon Sunray #WesleyHousing50 #Legacy #Hope #Community
