WE DID IT! 🎓 The WEARE1MIAMI team has officially graduated from Leadership Miami and was honored with the “Outstanding Project of the Cohort” award! 🏆✨ As our LM Program Chair Will so wisely shared, “this is only the end of the beginning.” We are incredibly grateful for this recognition and are inspired to continue the work we’ve started to support Sunrise Community, its residents, and staff. This vulnerable population, often overlooked, deserves a future rooted in inclusion—and we remain steadfast in our shared mission to make that vision a reality. 💙🌱 To our amazing supporters, donors, and volunteers—thank you for believing in us and helping us bring this project to life. 💪 Your dedication and generosity made all the difference. PROJECT OF THE COHORT 🙌 100 days ago, a group of strangers came together with one mission: to make a Greater Miami. From that, WEARE1MIAMI was born, and we set out to enhance the lives of the residents at Sunrise Community by creating a sensory garden—a peaceful space to experience harmony and all their senses. ✨ Here’s what we accomplished: 🔹 90+ volunteers across three project phases 🔹 $75,140.66 raised in monetary and in-kind donations 🔹 1,500+ hours dedicated to making this dream a reality 🙌 We also want to congratulate @leadmiami2gether, @conn3ct_305, and @impact4mia for their incredible projects. You’ve truly contributed to making a Greater Miami! What an Unforgettable Day! 🌟 On Saturday, WEARE1MIAMI officially cut the ribbon and celebrated the opening of Sunrise Community’s Sensory Garden! This incredible milestone was made possible thanks to the dedication and love from the WEARE1MIAMI team, Sunrise Community, and our amazing community of supporters & volunteers. 💙🌱 The event was filled with heartfelt speeches, the unveiling of our supporters’ banner, and an official ribbon-cutting ceremony that symbolized the power of collaboration and community. Together, we’ve created a beautiful space where accessibility, joy, and sensory exploration thrive. 🌱✨ A huge thank you to our partners, sponsors, and volunteers who made this dream a reality. This impactful organization provides dedicated care, inclusive services, and empowering opportunities for adults with developmental and physical disabilities, enriching lives through compassion and accessibility. Our goal with this sensory garden is to create a beautiful, inclusive space where residents can connect with nature and engage in a meaningful, sensory-rich environment tailored to their unique needs. Every element of the garden has been thoughtfully designed to foster joy, relaxation, and well-being. As we approach completion, it’s never too late to make an impact! Huge thanks to our amazing volunteers and supporters for helping us bring Phase 2 of the sensory garden for Sunrise Community to life! This phase’s highlight? A vibrant mural painted by our dedicated volunteers, made possible with the generous sponsorship of our friends at Sherwin-Williams. 🎨💙 We also got hands-on with pre-cutting wood for elevated garden beds, wheelchair-accessible planters, and a double planter bench.
