🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 We had the incredible honor of hosting dental students from Phnom Penh, Cambodia, thanks to Dr. Magnus Wilson, former owner of our Cambridge Dental Group office. The students had the unique opportunity to visit the University of Michigan Dental School and explore some of Detroit’s tourist attractions. At Wave Dental Specialists, they observed oral surgery under IV sedation, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in a clinic setting. Dr. Wilson continues to inspire us with his dedication to education and mentorship in his retirement. In honor of Dental Hygiene Month, VP of Operations Jennifer Emm sat down with their Clinical Leader Jenny Henson, RDH to discuss her role within the organization. 🦷🌊💙🩵 How many years have you been practicing clinical hygiene?  I have been a practicing hygienist for 20 years, plus 10 years of dental assisting, but who's counting? What year did you join the Wave Dental Professionals team? 2019. My kids were getting older, and I was looking to grow in my career, so I jumped at the opportunity to continue providing clinical care, while also mentoring other clinicians. What is your favorite thing about being a hygienist?  I like interacting with the patients. I truly believe that helping people with their oral health can be life changing. I was fortunate enough to have excellent dental care my entire life, my parents were not. I am grateful for the care I was able to receive from sealants, fluoride, ortho, etc.. I like to pay it forward and educate patients about all of ways dental hygiene can impact whole-body wellness to self-confidence. What is your favorite thing about being the Clinical Leader at WDP? I have many, but I think I make the most difference in helping others succeed and that gives me fulfillment. In addition to mentoring other hygienists at WDP dental practices, what other tasks are you responsible for? As you know, our leadership team is a whatever it takes team, so I have my hands in a little bit of everything. I work with our doctors reviewing KPIs, launch new clinical initiatives, completing any new providers clinical onboarding to set them up for success. I run our clinical advisory board; we are responsible for researching new products, labs, and technology. I host monthly clinical continuing education course. And a ton more. We believe in walking the walk, so of course, I still practice hygiene one day per week in our Cambridge Dental Group location in Michigan.
