At the Waukee Innovation & Learning Center, the roles were reversed! Students from the APEX Exploration in Exercise and Sport Science course led staff members in a guided stretching session. These students have been sharing their expertise across the District, leading similar sessions at other buildings to promote wellness. #WeAreWaukee

Radiant Elementary 1st graders were treated to a festive surprise! Dressed in inflatable holiday costumes, the principal and instructional coach delivered wrapped books for the students to take home for Winter Break. The free books were provided to all Iowa 1st graders as part of a statewide literacy initiative by the Iowa Department of Education. Students will receive a second round of books in the spring! 📚 #WeAreWaukee

🎁 Our District donated nearly 400 toys to Toys for Tots! These donations were collected earlier this week during the Waukee vs. Northwest basketball game. Thank you to everyone who helped make the holidays brighter for so many families. #WeAreWaukee

Our 8th graders in the new video production class just completed a broadcasting unit by producing live newscasts featuring: ✅ Pre-recorded stories and commercials ✅ Live shots around the school ✅ Green screens ✅ Student executive producers The best part? This week was 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤, so it's fitting that our elementary computer science teachers used their professional development time to explore the Finch robot. Thanks to a grant, each Waukee CSD elementary school has 10 Finch robots, which are a fun way for students to learn coding and problem-solving. #WeAreWaukee
