🌏 🌿 Happy new year from the WaterLANDS project! We're excited to announce the newest WaterLANDS #publication from our Action Site partners in Estonia, the University of Tartu! 🙌 The article, which was published in Mires and Peat last month, focuses on the recovery of Sphagnum mosses in donor sites after cutting. In two bogs in central and north-east Estonia, the team studied the recovery and growth of Sphagnum fuscum, Sphagnum rubellum and Sphagnum medium after cutting of donor sites, in comparison with natural bog sites. The study records differences between species, as well as environmental factors. Read the full article here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eP9SikT8 European Research Executive Agency (REA)

Learn more about the innovative methods for restoration that are being employed by We are here Venice at the Venice lagoon Action Site as part of the WaterLANDS project by reading the article "Restoration and Optical Monitoring: An Emerging Method" https://lnkd.in/dHwdn4BK
The interventions at the action site of the European WaterLANDS project (GA 101036484), working alongside the Vital initiative, aim primarily to restore native vegetation and stabilize sediments in reconstructed salt marshes. These efforts are vital to prevent erosion and preserve the Lagoon’s unique landscapes. How can we assess whether the actions taken are genuinely yielding the desired effects? By using an integrated monitoring system that combines field surveys, multispectral data, vegetation studies, and comparative analyses. Explore this innovative approach in our article, “Restoration and Optical Monitoring: An Emerging Method” 👉 https://lnkd.in/dHwdn4BK #Vital #veneziaèlaguna #veneziaèunaveracittà #bespecific #intellectualsunite #languageofvalue
