Giving a shoutout to a hematologist who is working to improve care for patients with wAIHA, Dr. Ronald S. Go, M. D. Dr. Go is a professor of medicine renowned for his expertise in benign hematology, multiple myeloma, amyloidosis, lymphoma, and Erdheim-Chester disease. "Last week, at the American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting, my colleagues and I had the chance to speak with healthcare providers about our research highlighting the impact of warm autoimmune hemolytic anemia (wAIHA) on patients and their loved ones. I’m proud of my company’s commitment to developing breakthrough innovations to support patients with autoimmune diseases like wAIHA, a rare disease that currently has no FDA-approved treatment option." - Zia Choudhry, MD, PhD, MBA, Senior Medical Director, Rare Autoantibody Immunology To learn more about wAIHA, watch this video featuring Dr. Choudhry and Ninya Bostic, National Policy & Advocacy Director, Immunology, in which they discuss wAIHA and the importance of pushing the boundaries of research to help develop transformational approaches for autoantibody-driven diseases. #ASH24 #JNJImmunology

We're grateful for the opportunity to be featured in this article all about the patient experience with wAIHA and how we're working to make a difference!
I recently had the opportunity to speak with Karen Jones, President and Executive Director of #wAIHA Warriors, a community founded in 2020 to support, educate and advocate for warm autoimmune hemolytic anemia (wAIHA) patients, their families and caregivers. wAIHA is a rare condition where autoantibodies - misguided, or pathogenic antibodies that can attack critical organs and tissues - lead to the premature destruction of red blood cells, resulting in anemia and causing symptoms like debilitating fatigue, dizziness, shortness of breath and in severe cases, loss of consciousness. Read more about Karen’s personal experience with wAIHA and how it shaped her advocacy work.

Thank you Johnson & Johnson for this excellent video explaining what wAIHA is!
Our research at this year’s American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting highlights the profound impact a warm autoimmune hemolytic anemia (wAIHA) diagnosis can have on the lives of patients and its associated burden on healthcare resources. With no FDA-approved treatments currently available, we are collaborating with advocacy organizations like wAIHA Warriors to harness the patient perspective and highlight the unmet need for targeted therapies that address the underlying cause of disease.
