Today, coming home from rehab, I booked a PickMe as usual. Got into the three wheeler, and it "tuk" off (pun intended). To my surprise, there was no sound, no vibrations, it just sped up, instant and smooth. Poked my head over the driver's shoulder to see that this particular 4 stroke bajaj, had no strokes at all! It was electric! I just couldn't help but read up about this particular tuk on the way. Seemed like the display unit belonged to eShift and the conversion was done by them. Reading about it more, they seem genuinely interested in the environment, sustainability and giving a cost effective product to the consumer. (https://eshift.lk/) It was so refreshing to see that there are companies like this, in a third world country like ours, who commit to innovation in the genuine interest of a better future. And more than that we should be happy that there are tuk drivers who take that extra step towards sustainability amidst all the hardships they go through! While wishing good luck to Citizens Development Business Finance PLC & Vega Innovations on this venture, I paid the driver with an extra tip and got off the tuk with a smile on my face.
