What's more important for your heart health? A) lowering dietary cholesterol B) lowering saturated fat Cholesterol is an essential nutrient for the body. Brad Serwer, MD FACC FSCAI, chief medical officer of VitalSolution-Cardiology explains, "There are two sources of cholesterol: That which you consume in your diet and endogenous cholesterol that your liver produces." Dr. Serwer adds that guidelines focus more on saturated fat—for good reason. Diets high in saturated fat may contribute to inflammation, increasing the odds of chronic illnesses. Saturated fats are also calorie-dense, and consuming too many can lead to weight gain and obesity, which further increases the risk of health issues like heart disease and diabetes. The CDC estimates that more than a quarter of Americans don’t get any physical activity outside of work. But a new study finds that even a few minutes of exercise that happens incidentally throughout the day, including walking up stairs or walking your dog, may cut heart attack risks in half. Brad Serwer, MD FACC FSCAI, chief medical officer of VitalSolution-Cardiology, says “While incidental exercise may not be long in duration or intense, it does keep a person active, burns calories and may keep some people from getting less stiff.” Learn more about incidental exercise and its benefits: https://lnkd.in/gsx3SGkP
