If you’re a #PM feeling under appreciated today, know that project management is critical. Everyone thinks so. A PwC survey found that a whopping 97% organizations believe project management is critical to business performance. But it doesn’t always feel that way. Just because someone says your job is important doesn’t mean that you feel the value yourself. #ProjectManagement is the lynchpin of achieving business goals, and it can make or break business success. But it’s also one of those jobs that often only stand out when something has gone wrong, and that’s never the type of attention you want. Great PMs use great tools to make it look easy. (Like Visor!) The best PMs foster a culture that understand what they do by #WorkingLouder and calling attention to the failures, learnings, and successes all at once. When project management is given the attention it deserves, organizations are better positioned to achieve their business objectives. So don’t just acknowledge the importance of project management in the abstract—invest in it. Strong project management capabilities are essential for achieving business success.

We say it a lot: “You need a single source of truth.” “What’s our single source of truth?” “How does this connect to our source of truth?” A single source of truth can look like just about anything, but we’re big fans of dashboards. A project management dashboard provides a centralized platform for tracking project progress, managing resources, and identifying potential risks. Swipe to see what the fuss is about.

Shout out to the brilliant Alex Ortiz for taking the time to talk about Visor on his YouTube channel! We love a good #GanttCart, too, especially one full of #Jira data. Link to the video in the comments 👇

Research by McKinsey shows that 70% of large-scale business transformation projects fail. Why so high? Transformations - large scale changes to how businesses operate - are complex and often involve multiple stakeholders, which makes them particularly challenging to manage. To succeed, organizations need to have a clear strategy in place, with defined roles and responsibilities, as well as a plan for managing resistance to change. Regular communication and stakeholder engagement are also crucial for ensuring that everyone is aligned and committed to the project’s goals. Transformation projects require more than just a vision—they require meticulous planning and execution. Don’t underestimate the importance of change management in your project’s success. Want to skip the transformation? Try a #PMtool that integrates with the tools you already use and supports the processes you already know.

So we here at Visor have been doing some reading, and we found a study by the Harvard Business Review that states that one in six IT projects has a cost overrun of 200% or more. Woah! When you do the math looking at scale and frequency, using the numbers It often deals in, that’s billions of dollars in extra costs. So what’s causing it? Scope creep, unforeseen challenges, or poor budget management? Maybe something else entirely? No matter the issue, we suspect that it could be mitigated with effective project management practices. By setting clear project scopes, regularly reviewing budgets, and managing risks proactively, organizations can reduce the likelihood of cost overruns. It’s also important to involve stakeholders in the budgeting process to ensure that all potential costs are accounted for. Avoid costly overruns in your IT projects by implementing strong project management practices. Set clear scopes, review budgets regularly, and manage risks proactively. And make sure you’re using great tools to help it all.
