  • For the record, Anna and Jeff Porch are in a league of their own. In this special episode of "Here for Good: Inside Edition," Dennis chats with the podcast's first-ever couple! • Our hearts, and calendars, have been full with so many cardiology milestones and events! Dr. Luai Tabaza hosted his first cardiovascular education course at Virtua Marlton Hospital, sharing best practices and innovative procedural techniques. The first patient was enrolled in the SPYRAL AFFIRM clinical study, which evaluates the long-term safety, efficacy, and durability of the Medtronic Symplicity Spyral Renal Denervation System. Dr. Dan Choi, Theresa Rowe, and Jessica Kernizan celebrated their 4th LVAD implantation, which helps the heart pump oxygenated blood to the body when the heart isn't healthy enough to do so. Our Structural Heart Program was recognized and awarded during this year's American Heart Association Conference. We were one of 23 hospital systems in the country to receive this recognition. And last but not least, we recently held our annual Shop with the Doc event, where Dr. Joshua Crasner, Virtua cardiologist, and Claire Rudden, registered dietician, showed our neighbors how to navigate the grocery store for healthy options.

  • A new, high-tech program enables patients to interact with a medical expert via the TV in the patient’s hospital room. The initiative enhances patient support and communication, and far-away loved ones can even join these virtual meetings.   The program, now available in select Virtua hospital units, will expand to more units and uses over time. In fact, Virtua is the first health system in Greater Philadelphia to commit to transforming nearly every inpatient room into a “smart” room with virtual care capabilities. • Recently, the Special Care Nursery (SCN) family grew with the addition of incredible new nursing staff. To ensure they felt confident and ready to provide exceptional care, our shared governance team designed something special... Enter: a hands-on simulation lab! Using realistic scenarios with a doll and supplies, they covered critical skills like central line maintenance, chest tube care, developmental positioning, and more. The results? Confidence soared, and our new nurses felt empowered to tackle the challenges of the SCN. These innovative simulations continue to benefit the entire team, ensuring we deliver the best care every step of the way. It's for this reason, and many more, that we're proud to present this team with our WE Award for Continuous Learning and Innovation!

  • We kept it out of the kitchen and on point at our ‘Pickleball with a Doc’ event! Dr. Marc Harwood from Virtua Reconstructive Orthopedics broke down the secrets to avoiding sports injuries, and a pickleball instructor helped attendees master their swings. Thanks for making this event such a hit!

  • Can we get a round of applause, a standing ovation, some high fives, a few fist bumps, three cheers, a huzzah, or whatever feels right for our recent Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing graduates? From all of us at Virtua, congrats on this tremendous achievement, we can't wait to see what's next!
