As 2024 draws to a close, I have a lot to reflect on heading into 2025. It was a massive year for Vineskills—including the launch of a brand-new service business called Finance Skills! Our north star at Vineskills is to be helpful; we’re on a mission to enable firms to embrace new technology so they can be more competitive, unlock efficiencies, and ultimately, drive growth. The same holds true for Finance Skills. We’re laser-focused on helping law firms improve their financial operations by driving continuous improvement. A huge thank you to my hardworking Finance Skill-ers Toogii Enkhbayar, Hope Harris, Kari Matthews, Anastasia Weide, and Zoe Epshtein. You make the magic happen for our clients; you’re the glue that holds this thing together, and I appreciate your adaptability, helpfulness, and partnership as we build this business as a team. Alongside the growth of Finance Skills, we’ve also been hard at work on QuickBooks Connect, the tool we created to bridge the gap between Filevine and QuickBooks. In just two short years, we’ve gained 400 clients, and it’s been an absolute pleasure working alongside them as we develop QBC. Thank you for your willingness to embrace change and explore new ideas. My favorite part of the job has been figuring out how to make QBC more intuitive, automated, and useful. With that in mind, we’re cooking up some major new features for 2025—so stay tuned!

Chief Services Officer @Vineskills | Expert in Legal Tech and Business Process + Case Management

I had hoped to attend an event this week, but my schedule just didn't work out. So, instead, I took time to think about the topic we would have covered. I didn't get the chance to engage in direct dialogue with my peers, but I did give myself the space to clarify for myself where I'd like to be as a leader in the New Year. Leadership and management are often thought to go hand in hand, but they’re actually different—and by understanding their differences, I hope to change the way I approach both. For me, management is about organizing, planning, and getting things done. It’s about setting clear goals, creating processes, and making sure everything runs smoothly. As a manager, I often saw myself as the person responsible for building the structure that keeps things moving forward. As I step forward as a leader, I realize that leadership is more about inspiring and guiding others toward a shared vision. It’s about creating energy, aligning people, and fostering belief in possibilities that might not even be on the horizon yet. Here’s the key: you can have management without leadership and leadership can shine without formal management. As a manager I would make sure tasks were completed on time and resources were being used wisely. But leadership goes deeper—it’s about how I motivate and connect with people on a personal level. In my experience, the best leaders go beyond the traditional boundaries of management—not because they disregard structure, but because they inspire action. They lead through their ideas, their example, and the trust they build. I've seen how strong management lays the foundation that leadership elevates. When you bring both together—when leaders also have solid management skills and managers learn to lead—you create something truly powerful: organizations that are not just functional but transformational. The best leaders might not always be managers, but every exceptional leader I've worked with has exemplified the importance of inspiring people toward a common goal. What do you think—can leadership be an extension of management, or is it something entirely different? Vineskills
