  • At this week’s general meeting, VIM members had the pleasure of hearing from Randy and Victoria, two talented career consultants from MSU. They graciously shared their expertise with our members, offering valuable advice on how to effectively "share your story" through resumes. During their presentation, Randy and Victoria guided us through the essential steps of crafting a resume that highlights your skills and experiences in the best possible light. They began by discussing the importance of choosing the right format, followed by tips on structuring the content, and finished with the steps of proofreading. They emphasized that a well-organized and error-free resume is key to making a positive impression on potential employers.Randy and Victoria also took us through each section of the resume, stressing the importance of keeping everything up to date. From the contact information to education, experience, and skills, they provided tips on what to include and what to avoid. We learned how to present our qualifications clearly and effectively, ensuring that our resumes stand out in a competitive job market. In addition to the resume tips, VIM members were excited to receive one free class card from Yoga State—such a thoughtful gesture! We are incredibly grateful to Randy and Victoria for sharing their time and expertise with us. Their guidance will undoubtedly help many of us refine our resumes and better prepare for future opportunities. Thank you again, ladies! XOXO,
VIM

  • This Monday, VIM members had the opportunity to hear from one of our own MSU alumni, Isabella Wah, of Beauty Co-Lab. Isabella shared her journey, the various paths she explored, her role at Beauty Co-Lab, and valuable advice for us. Starting at Michigan State, Isabella made a significant shift from engineering to advertising. She was involved in the Women in Advertising Club at MSU, which connected her with the Vice President of Kroger Matic Advertising at Dentsu. Beginning her career at Dentsu, Isabella rose from media coordinator to manager at L’Oréal. In her current role, she oversees the processes involved in projects, including creating advertisements, budgeting, team communication, and understanding client needs. VIM members had the chance to ask Isabella questions and receive insights about her journey. She offered us some final words of wisdom: “You are right where you’re supposed to be, you get out what you put in, and it’s truly not that serious.” We are so grateful to have heard from the wonderful Isabella! XOXO, VIM

  • This Monday, we had the pleasure of hearing from Auden Ceithamal and Brianna Olszewski, influencer marketers at Blue Wheel Media. Their unique connections to VIM made the meeting even more exciting! Auden and Brianna shared their experiences in various internships and roles as social media directors, highlighting their leadership positions. At Blue Wheel Media, they focus primarily on the beauty industry, working with brands such as PowerBlock, Acute, NYX, Beautyblender, and HoMedics. During their presentation, they walked us through their process of finding and collaborating with influencers, explaining how they act as a “middleman” between companies and influencers. Hearing their stories and memorable moments was truly inspiring. They also discussed how the rise of TikTok Shop is changing the landscape of influencer marketing and how their daily tasks can vary greatly. Auden provided valuable insights on what sets her apart from others when applying for positions, while both women offered excellent advice on securing jobs and internships. Our members engaged with thoughtful questions, making the discussion even more enriching. We are incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to connect with such talented individuals! XOXO, VIM

  • Yesterday's general meeting started out with a few words from Victoria Morris, from MSU College of Arts and Letters. Our members then heard from Alexandra Plaskey about working in Madison Square Garden Entertainment! Alexandra works in event production and venue management specifically. She is currently the senior director of back of house operations in Madison Square Garden. Alexandra ran through a fun example of the work she does, specifically “one night only” concerts, and how she goes about it. She shared her favorite events she has put on such as, Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett, and Biden’s NYC fundraiser! VIM members asked questions about her journey, living in New York, and how to balance a fast paced work and life schedule. We were so lucky to have Alexandra Plaskey come speak to us! A huge shout out to Good Molecules and Sol de Janeiro for the samples! We appreciate you and your fabulous products!!! XOXO, VIM

VIM is signing off for the 2023-2024 school year. This year has been one for the books and we officially concluded this chapter on Monday at our final general meeting of the semester. We were all a little teary-eyed to say goodbye to our graduating seniors, and closed out the year by giving candy grams to our VIM besties. However, there is still time to celebrate all the hard work and talent of this organization at the launch of our Spring 2024 Issue tomorrow at Green Dot Stables! We cannot wait for everyone to see this issue for the first time while dressed in "April Affair" attire. We are so proud of each and every one of you for making this vision come to life! Saying farewell to our beloved EICs and graduating directors is hard, but we are so excited for the future of VIM and confident that the magazine is in the very best hands! We cannot say thank you enough to those graduating and leaving behind a lasting legacy on this organization. 2023-2024 EIC Morgan Barbat, your love and light never goes unnoticed. Thank you for making all members feel welcomed, admired, and part of something bigger than themselves. You've touched and inspired more people than you know. Even in a room of 200+ people, you shine so bright and we cannot wait to be your biggest fans when watching all that you accomplish! 2023-2024 EIC Lily Champine, your dedication and kind heart is adored by everyone in this organization. Your ability to balance so much at once and pull it all off seamlessly is incomprehensible. Thank you for setting such an amazing example with your hard work and genuine spirit. You do it all and VIM will continue to be inspired by you for years to come! 2023-2024 AEIC Milcah Solomon, we cannot thank you enough for all the work you put in behind the scenes. Everything you've done for this organization does not go unnoticed. Especially your outfits, which have never missed and never will. Your energy is unmatched in front of a camera and behind the scenes; we love you! A HUGE congrats to our new EICs Brandon Roberts and Liv Ceithaml! You two are so deserving of this and we are so confident in your ability to make our 2024-2025 issues unforgettable. Your creativity and passion throughout your time at VIM has already left such an impact on this organization. We cannot wait to see what you do next. Until next fall,  XOXO, VIM
