  • We replaced or added transformers at 4 substations this year: Cutler, Machias, Tibbetts St., and Tremont. Transformers like these allow us to make safe adjustments to our system and will provide improved service to area customers for years to come.

We've received calls from customers asking about door-to-door community solar marketers. While many of these salespeople are legitimate, it’s important to know that they are not associated with Versant Power and you should be vigilant if anyone asks for your personal information. Here are some tips to keep in mind: - Verify the representative's identity: Ask for their name, company and contact information. - Read the fine print: Carefully review contracts and agreements, and be mindful of any hidden fees. - Research program sponsors: Check out the list of registered sponsors and marketers on the Maine Public Utilities Commission (MPUC) website as organizations must be registered with the MPUC: https://bit.ly/49NKhwl

We've energized a new substation in Tremont to improve reliability for area customers! After a year of work, customers on the Tremont and Southwest Harbor end of Mount Desert Island should now experience more reliable service with the addition of a new substation and equipment. The new substation feeds power to two local circuits, one feeding Bass Harbor and the other feeding the Tremont area, including Swans Island and Frenchboro. Upgrades to equipment along both lines will improve service to over 2,000 customers. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/exHdxrSU

  • Our Restoration Approach: We begin the damage assessment and restoration process as soon as it’s safe to do so, after the first outage is reported and following our approach to restore power to the largest number of customers at a time. We start with repairs at substations and along transmission lines because they can serve thousands of customers. We need to make those repairs before working on the lines in your neighborhood. • Before we begin restoring power, we work with first responders to make sure downed lines are made safe. Our crews will then assess storm damage so we can plan to restore the most customers at a time with each repair. Please remember: - Do not attempt to remove any downed limbs or trees that come in contact with power lines. - Never touch a downed power line or a tree in contact with a downed line. - Motorists are urged to slow down or move over and change lanes, when possible, if approaching utility crews working on roadways
