  • Rounding out our fall intern spotlights is CHIA-LING WU at Soonest Express Inc.! She says: "This summer and fall, I've had the rewarding experience of working as a Logistics Intern at Soonest Express. My responsibilities were multi-faceted, including warehouse inventory management, where I ensured precise tracking and organization of stock to support efficient inventory flow. Additionally, I prepared monthly storage fee invoices, carefully calculating client-specific costs to improve cost control and operational transparency. For domestic logistics, I coordinated inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring timely, organized deliveries in close partnership with our distribution channels. In international logistics, I handled customs clearance for T86 imports, managing all aspects of regulatory compliance to streamline entry into the domestic market. To optimize the efficiency of my customs tasks, I applied knowledge from Spreadsheet Modeling and Analytics (OPRE 6332) to develop a data-import model that enabled customs and logistics details to align smoothly, reduced processing time and errors, and ultimately sped up the clearance process. Throughout my internship, I actively applied skills and concepts from my #UTDMSSCM coursework. These skills strengthened my ability to execute tasks like planning, scheduling, and cost analysis in real-time scenarios. Overall, this experience allowed me to sharpen my project management abilities, enhance my attention to detail, and deepen my understanding of logistics operations, providing me with essential skills for a future career in supply chain management!"

  • Sporting our iconic "Who keeps the world going?" supply chain t-shirt, second semester #UTDMSSCM student Phuong Nam Duong shares his experience in the program: "UT Dallas, I believe, is a great environment for me to nurture my career through both knowledge and professional experience. I have cherished the dream of elevating my career through a master’s degree in supply chain management, and #UTD is such a great place to elevate my career as I am surrounded by many talented peers and inspirational professors who bring business professionalism and hands-on experiences to the table. After completing my MBA and then working in logistics for over 3 years, I made a bold move in my professional career by enrolling in my master’s degree in supply chain management, and I was honored to be admitted to the MS SCM program at UT Dallas for Spring 2024. While I initially felt both excitement and anxiety about whether I made the right choice, those feelings of anxiety quickly faded. After completing my first semester at JSOM, I realized how well-suited I am to this program. We are not only fully equipped with in-depth knowledge of our field of study, but we are trained to be successful and professionally fit in the modern business environment. I am thrilled to be a part of the MS Supply Chain Management program at the Naveen Jindal School of Management, UT Dallas. As I am moving through my second semester and actively seeking an internship opportunity for Summer 2025, I continue to be inspired by the support and guidance of my professors and the camaraderie of my talented classmates, who share the same passion for success. UT Dallas has genuinely been a pivotal step in shaping my career journey, and I am excited for what’s to come!"
