  • 🎖️ The USHCC is honored to congratulate the Cavazos family on the posthumous recognition of the late four-star U.S. Army Gen. Richard E. Cavazos, a trailblazing leader and role model for American soldiers. President Biden will award Gen. Cavazos the Medal of Honor—the nation’s highest recognition for battlefield valor—at a ceremony today. Known for his extraordinary bravery and leadership, Gen. Cavazos led the 65th Infantry Regiment during the Korean War in a pivotal 1953 battle, primarily consisting of soldiers from Puerto Rico. His legacy from 33 years of military service, cemented with the renaming of Fort Cavazos in 2023, continues to inspire generations. USHCC President & CEO Ramiro Cavazos reflects: "As eighth-generation native South Texans, we take immense pride in our family's legacy, inspired by my dad's first cousin's remarkable achievement. The Medal of Honor sets a powerful precedent for future generations to strive for excellence and make a lasting impact." We honor Gen. Cavazos’ memory, his service, and the enduring impact he left on our nation. 🇺🇸 Watch the webcast and learn more: https://lnkd.in/gHe_jxmV

  • The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce mourns the loss of Jimmy Carter, our nation’s 39th President, who devoted his life to public service and became a global symbol of compassion and integrity. President Carter’s remarkable legacy includes his humble beginnings as a peanut farmer, his service as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy nuclear submarine program, and his eventual call to represent his fellow Americans in the country’s highest office. His commitment to recognizing the great contributions of Hispanic Americans to our nation’s heritage—in business, culture, military service, innovation, public service, and society—has left a lasting impact. President Carter established the White House Office of Hispanic Affairs, increased Hispanic representation in the federal government, and prioritized human rights and international diplomacy in Latin America and throughout the world. We offer our heartfelt condolences to the Carter family and stand with the country in honoring his extraordinary life and enduring contributions.
