About us
UrgentVet is a whole new breed of pet clinic --- providing prompt, attentive care on a more convenient schedule. Until now, if a pet was sick or injured outside of regular office hours, owners had two choices: pay a premium price at an emergency vet or wait for an appointment with their regular vet. UrgentVet was created to fill the gap between these choices by offering a more affordable and more convenient alternative. We provide prompt care for cases that aren't serious enough for an emergency vet, but are too pressing to wait for a scheduled appointment. UrgentVet offers after-hours treatment for common pet illnesses and injuries --- just like an urgent care center for people. We are open 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends, when traditional veterinary hospitals are closed. We provide immediate relief for dogs and cats with ailments such as post-operative incision complications, minor wounds, ear infections, mild vomiting and diarrhea, and numerous urgent but non-life threatening conditions. When a pet is sick or injured, owners simply drop in --- no appointment necessary! UrgentVet costs less than the emergency vet and there's no need to miss work to see the regular vet the next business day. We accept referrals from other veterinarians, and we will provide owners and referring vets with clear and concise discharge instructions. Remember, your pet can't wait to feel better!

The holiday season is always full of surprises and touching stories, but this particular one warmed the hearts of our team. This past Thanksgiving, Jenn, a Girl Scout Troop Leader and one of her Girl Scouts, Anita, entered our clinic with a feral cat. Anita had been caring for this furry friend, who had made her neighborhood its home for the past three years. One evening, she called Jenn desperately seeking help after she discovered that her furry friend had been attacked and was near death. Jenn sprang into action, bringing Anita and Ember into UrgentVet Cary, NC. She was prepared to have the difficult conversation with Anita, explaining that the cat might not survive the attack. Thanks to the UrgentVet Cary team, Ember is almost fully recovered! Jenn reports that Anita has been doing an amazing job looking after him and his wound as he continues to recover at her house. Anita was prepared to sacrifice all the money her mom had saved for her Christmas presents to save Ember’s life. While Jenn had the resources to help, and our team had the means to save Ember, we knew this story didn’t end there. The team at UrgentVet Cary was so touched by Anita’s dedication this animal in-need, that they rewarded her with a $300 gift card. We hope she continues to nurture her love for animals, and we can’t wait to see all the amazing things Anita will do in the future! Pet Pro Profile Alert! 🎉 Meet Kylee D., a valued team member across our Brandon, Lakeland, and Boca locations, who has been with UrgentVet since September 15, 2022. Kylee’s journey in the veterinary field began as a high school student looking to earn her clinical hours for her Certified Veterinary Assistant (CVA) certification. Her passion for animal care quickly grew into a rewarding career path. What Kylee loves most about her role is working directly with pets and helping them feel better. Every day offers the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of animals, which is why she is so dedicated to her work. Kylee has also had her fair share of unexpected moments in the clinic! One of the most memorable cases involved a dog who came in after eating trail mix that contained raisins. When they induced vomiting, the patient surprised everyone by bringing up not just the trail mix, but also two socks, a pair of underwear, and a still-sealed snack-sized ziplock bag of trail mix. It’s always a reminder that you never know what you'll find! When it comes to advice for newcomers to the veterinary field, Kylee shares, “Practice makes perfect.” Her dedication and commitment to continuous improvement are sure to inspire others just starting out. Outside of the clinic, Kylee is a college softball player at Lynn University, showing that she can balance her passion for animals with her athletic pursuits. PET PRO PROFILE ALERT!🎉 Meet Laura A. who joined UrgentVet Lakeway in August 2023, bringing with her a passion for animal care and a background in behavioral health and positive reinforcement training for exotics. Inspired to challenge herself, Laura found a home at UrgentVet, where she loves supporting her team and helping clients. A pet mom to Kuzco (Doberman-Husky), Russ (cat), and step-mom to her fiancé's domestic short hairs- Earl & Wanda, Laura's favorite part of her role is educating pet owners and guiding her team’s growth. Her most memorable case involved a family of cattle dogs who got into a porcupine fight—watching them recover was truly rewarding. Her advice for newcomers?
