  • Deck the halls-and the streets-with Christmas cheer! The holiday spirit came alive at UM Health-Sparrow Lansing as Santa, his elves and local first responders joined forces to bring holiday joy to patients, visitors and team members. Police and fire agencies created a festive atmosphere for all as they circled the hospital with their lights shining brightly. Santa and his team also delivered gifts to young patients at the University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Children’s Center, spreading smiles and holiday cheer. Meanwhile, UM Health-Sparrow team members, alongside the Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Michigan, served donuts and hot chocolate, adding warmth to the celebrations. We're thankful for all who joined together today to make the holidays a little brighter for patients and their families.

  • You've got to see this! 😀🚗👶 A beautiful little baby took an unconventional path to UM Health-Sparrow. Baby Amelia was so excited to meet her mom and dad that she arrived early in the family’s car! Not only could Team Amelia not make it to the hospital in time, baby girl couldn't even wait until they left the driveway! But thanks to the quick thinking and expert guidance of an Eaton County 911 dispatcher who calmly guided them through the delivery, mom and baby had a smooth and successful delivery right there in the driveway of their home in Eaton County. Amelia was safely brought to UM Health-Sparrow Lansing, where she’s receiving excellent care at our world-class Children’s Center. Her family is incredibly grateful for the lifesaving support that helped bring their baby girl into the world. Welcome baby Amelia and here's to many more adventurous, but maybe not quite THIS adventurous, family car rides! 😀🚗👶

  • History has been made at University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Lansing. Katelyn Jenkins, a patient care technician, was recently recognized as the hospital’s first-ever BEE Award winner for going above and beyond to provide a patient with dementia a sense of purpose and control. Katelyn used her creativity to care for a patient who frequently wandered, hoarded trash and became agitated. “In order to calm him, and clean his room, Katelyn created fake money to ‘pay’ him for his trash, and keep him content with staying in the hospital,” her BEE Award nomination stated. The BEE Award recognizes excellence among the clinical support team members who deliver quality, compassionate care. BEE is an acronym for Be Exceptional Every day.

  • This is the time of year to extend a helping hand to those in need and when UM Health-Sparrow compassion really shines. A clothing drive is underway at UM Health-Sparrow Lansing to help the many patients that arrive at the hospital in urgent situations, underdressed or without appropriate clothing to wear home. This clothing drive aims to fill that gap by ensuring patients leave the hospital warm, safely and with dignity. Thru Jan. 12, you can drop off donations in any of the two designated donation box locations: UM Health-Sparrow Lansing check-in desk (hospital lobby) or the SPA (Sparrow Professional Building on the 3rd floor). The drive welcomes donations of new clothing items for children and adults of all sizes: sweatpants, sweatshirts, underwear, shoes, coats, hats and gloves/mittens.

  • We are thrilled to move forward with plans to lease a former Rite Aid store in Lansing to enhance access to pharmacy, urgent care and occupational health services. The move will help address the growing pharmacy desert in the Lansing area. Located at the corner of E. Michigan Avenue and Pennsylvania, directly across from UM Health-Sparrow Lansing, the renovated space will ensure patients maintain access to critical medications and urgent health care services close to home.
